We all know that President Barack Obama is a hoops fan, so it should come as no surprise he has LSU freshman sensation Ben Simmons on his radar.
Obama made a visit to McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, La. on Thursday to speak about the expansion of Medicaid through his signature Affordable Care Act. But first he had to get something off his chest.
The president gave a shout out to Simmons right off the bat.
“I might mention you got an OK basketball player named Ben Simmons in the house,” Obama said, via Tiger Rag.
Of course, the nation’s No. 1 freshman was on hand to hear the president’s remarks, along with a huge crowd of Baton Rouge residents.
The president didn’t stop there.
Obama enticed the Tigers fans with some LSU love, including Louisiana’s signature catch phrase of using “Geaux” instead of “Go.”
He made it clear to the locals he did his homework.
