The nation’s top-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2019 has made a decision.
5-star Akeem Dent has committed to Florida State after spending multiple days at camp in Tallahassee, Fla.
Dent added his offer from LSU in May and the Tigers immediately vaulted into one of the leading contenders for the Florida corner. Dent has not been to Baton Rouge since but pulled the trigger on a commitment to the Seminoles after his unofficial visit.
Dent is the No. 5 prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the No. 1 corner in the class and No. 2 overall recruit from the Sunshine State.
Missing Dent puts further pressure on LSU to secure commitments from two priority in-state targets: 4-stars Derek Stingley Jr. and Devin Bush.
Corey Raymond recently extended an offer to 3-star Houston corner Bobby Wolfe, who de-committed from Ole Miss on Thursday.
The Tigers hold a commitment from 5-star Tennessee DB Maurice Hampton, the lone defensive back embedded in their 2019 group.
