Rashard Lawrence likely out as LSU prepares to take on Mississippi State
LSU will most likely be without defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence on Saturday as the Tigers travel to Starkville to battle Mississippi State in both teams SEC openers.
“Very questionable,” LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said on Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference. “I don’t think he’s going to play.”
Lawrence suffered a leg injury during the Tigers season opener against BYU and was seen on the sidelines in a walking boot during this past Saturday’s game against Chattanooga.
Orgeron also gave an update on outside linebacker Arden Key, who is expected to see the field for the first time this season after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
“He can’t play a whole game right now,” Orgeron said. “It’s kind of wait and see what happens. To be honest with you, a little rusty. … His football condition is not where we want it to be right now, but he’ll get there.”
