Travonte Valentine is back.
The former LSU defensive lineman is a part of the LSU team again and has been ruled eligible to play immediately, according to 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow. Valentine originally signed with the Tigers in 2014, but was ruled academically ineligible and redshirted that season. He was dismissed from the Tigers last summer because of a violation of team rules.
After leaving Baton Rouge, Valentine played last fall at Arizona Western College (Yuma, Ariz.) before transferring to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Perkinston, Miss.).
The 6-foot-2, 315-pound prospect comes to LSU ranked as the nation’s No. 1 defensive tackle among the junior college ranks and the country’s No. 18 overall JUCO prospect, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Valentine will join senior Christian LaCouture and junior Davon Godchaux on the interior along the defensive front. Additionally, the Tigers will have 5-star signee Rashard Lawrence and 4-stars Glen Logan and Edwin Alexander in the rotation this summer.
