LSU coach Les Miles received a threatening email following the Tigers’ season-opening loss to Wisconsin at Lambeau Field.
According to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger and Elizabeth Crisp, an LSU fan sent the following email to Miles 55 minutes after the 16-14 defeat:
“I hope they fire your stupid (butt) or you die,” the fan wrote to Miles in an email obtained by The Advocate through an open records request.
The email was also “filled with racist undertones regarding the Tigers’ starting quarterback situation,” according to Dellenger and Crisp.
The Advocate also writes that Miles’ secretary reported the email to the LSU Police Department, and it was documented in case any more were received.
Joe Alleva, LSU’s athletic director, and president F. King Alexander also received more than 60 emails calling for the firing of Miles, with a majority of the notes arriving in their inboxes immediately following the game, per the report.
Several emails were sent from donors threatening to pull their donations should Miles stay on as head coach, and multiple mentioned Tom Herman as a candidate to replace him.
According to the report, Alleva replied to only one email from a fan who called the athletic director a “bum”.
He responded: “I’m sorry, do you have a name?,” according to The Advocate.
