How serious is Les Miles about coaching again?
Very, from the looks of it.
According to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, who cites multiple sources, Miles has hired Trace Armstrong to an agency team that still includes longtime agent George Bass.
Armstrong is known as a powerful agent, who also represents Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, Houston’s Tom Herman and Penn State’s James Franklin.
Dellenger writes that this is a serious step for Miles toward finding a next coaching job, as the former LSU coach expands his agency team and adds a proven and experienced agent.
According to Dellenger, Miles must at least attempt to find a new coaching job, which was a provision in his buyout clause that will pay approximately $9.6 million over six years. The former LSU coach is expected to receive his first payment on Monday, but the buyout would be mitigated should Miles find another job, per Dellenger.
Miles was fired following the Tigers’ 18-13 loss to Auburn in Week 4 after coaching LSU to a 114-34 record during 12 seasons in Baton Rouge.
The Tigers are 3-0 since Miles’ firing under interim head coach Ed Orgeron.
