The LSU athletic board has a bit of business to take care of before the Tigers’ football team takes the field against Wisconsin on Saturday.
LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri is expected to receive a four-year extension and a raise to $1.125 million a year at LSU’s Board of Supervisors meeting on Friday, according to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger.
The contract will extend Mainieri through the 2024 season, and bump his pay from $750,000 annually.
Last season was Mainieri’s 10th at LSU after leading the Tigers to a national championship in 2009.
Should the board approve the new deal, Mainieri would become the highest-paid baseball coach in the nation, according to Dellenger.
