Earlier this year, Christian LaCouture wondered if he should leave LSU for the NFL. Now, a knee injury might cut his college career short.
The senior defensive lineman suffered a knee injury of unknown severity on Monday, but NOLA.com‘s James Smith reports the 6-foot-5, 301-pound tackle will likely be out for the year:
The severity of his injury is not yet known, but the feeling is that it is an ACL injury. The difference between a sprain and tear are significant, with the latter calling for surgery and ultimately ending LaCouture’s season before it started.
LaCouture has racked up 86 tackles and 4.5 sacks in his Tigers career. Some NFL draft pundits wondered if he was ready to join the professional ranks this year, but the Lincoln, Neb., native decided to give himself another chance at boosting his stock.
NFLDraftScout.com currently ranks him No. 12 out of 176 defensive tackles on its 2017 draft board.
