If the city of Omaha, Neb., had its way, LSU would be in the College World Series every year.
Per the Omaha World-Hearld, the city of Omaha made an estimated $70 million according to Jack Diesing, chairman of College World Series of Omaha Inc.
LSU’s fans are an economic force by themselves,” Mike Kelley said , part owner of the Blatt Beer & Table and the Zesto ice cream window across the street from the baseball stadium. “They are a phenomenon.”
In addition to LSU, established baseball powers such as TCU and Oregon State helped bring extra attention and fans to the event.
LSU made a run all the way to the finals, before losing to Florida in the final. LSU had also missed the College World Series in the previous season. The Tigers also won the SEC Tournament title and finished the season ranked No. 2.
