Who will replace Les Miles at LSU? That’s the money question following Sunday’s decision to let go of the 12-year Tigers coach a day after a devastating loss to Auburn.
If the names being floated out there early in the process are any indication, LSU fans have plenty of reason to be excited. According to Billy Embody, who is the publisher of Scout’s TigerBlitz.com, the search for Miles’ replacement is already underway.
According to Embody’s sources, representatives for former Baylor coach Art Briles and Houston coach Tom Herman already have been contacted by LSU to gauge their interest in the position. Briles is a “free agent” after being let go by Baylor prior to the season amidst a sexual assault investigation involving some of his program’s players.
Meanwhile, Herman is coaching a Cougars team that beat Oklahoma in Week 1 and has its sights set on a potential College Football Playoff berth.

There are likely to be many more names that emerge in this high-profile search as the Tigers are early to the market in the 2017 coaching carousel. For the time being, former Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron will serve as the team’s interim head coach.
