Trey Quinn joined the in-state LSU Tigers after completing a record-setting high school career, but the wide receiver will finish his college days in the Lone Star State.
Quinn, who in February announced his intentions of transferring schools, will enroll at SMU this season, according to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports. The 6-foot, 197-pounder would have two more years of eligibility after reportedly sitting out the 2016 season.
A preps legend at Barbe High School (Lake Charles, La.), Quinn signed with the Tigers as a four-star prospect after setting the national all-time career receiving mark (6,566 yards) and securing the Louisiana state record for career receptions (357). He made 22 receptions for 276 yards in two seasons at LSU and was one of three receivers to leave the Tigers’ program this offseason (Kevin Spears and John Diarse were the other two).
All of that turnover has left LSU somewhat thin at the position behind projected starters Malachi Dupre and Travin Dural.
