John Chavis knows a good bit about Les Miles.
The current Texas A&M defensive coordinator was with Miles from 2009-14 at LSU, where Chavis served as the defensive coordinator. Chavis left LSU to then join Kevin Sumlin’s staff at Texas A&M after the 2014 season.
Chavis spoke ESPN’s Chris Low, and the former LSU coach said the school had been trying to fire Miles when Chavis was at the school.
Spoke with John Chavis, who was sad to see a man and coach like Miles pushed out but added, "They were trying to fire him when I was there."

Chavis and the Aggies lost to LSU last year in a game that ended up helping Miles save his job. Chavis was involved in a lawsuit with LSU, but a Texas judge dismissed it. Chavis and Texas A&M host LSU on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
