The timeline is set.
4-star running back Travis Etienne is scheduled to commit on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT. Etienne, the top-rated back in the state of Louisiana, is down to LSU and Clemson.
Etienne officially visited Tennessee and then Clemson last weekend, and is set to head to Baton Rouge on the final weekend before National Signing Day. The Vols recently added a third running back to their 2017 recruiting class, effectively removing themselves from the mix for Etienne.
A one-time Texas A&M commit, Etienne replaced his official visit to College Station for a trip to Clemson, who offered the Jennings (La.) High standout earlier this month.
When Etienne arrived home from Clemson, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and offensive coordinator were waiting. The three coaches and coveted tailback spent the bulk of Monday together.
Consider LSU a heavy favorite to land Etienne after that Monday visit and the fact that he wants to play close to home. Jennings is just about an hour down the road from Baton Rouge.
