When the rest of the SEC football betting lines came out for Week 3, the LSU vs. Mississippi State game was noticeably absent.
That was because, as of Sunday, that status of Tigers star running back Leonard Fournette was an uncertain following Les Miles’ decision to hold him out of LSU’s win against Jacksonville State on Saturday.
On Monday, it became clear that Fournette is expected to play for the Tigers on Saturday. That was enough information for CG Technology, which hands oddsmaking for The Venetian and several other major casinos in Las Vegas, to issue an opening line that placed LSU as a 16-point favorite.
The information was pulled from VegasInsider.com:
Vegas Insider now has a line on #LSU-MSU. The Tigers have opened up as 16-point favorites
That's quite a large spread…..

LSU narrowly escaped Starkville with a 21-19 victory in this series last season. Mississippi State lost its season-opener to South Alabama, but rebounded with a SEC win against South Carolina on Saturday.
