Former LSU shortstop Alex Bregman got a standing ovation during his MLB debut Monday, and his father was more excited than anyone.
Bregman found out he was getting called up from Triple-A Fresno on Sunday. When the No. 2 pick in the 2015 MLB Draft took the field for the Houston Astros to thunderous applause, his father, Sam, was overwhelmed. And the cameras caught the moment for all to see.

The cameras caught his father at another big moment in the game. Bregman had a chance at a grand slam in the sixth inning. He hit a fly ball to deep right field with the bases loaded and the game tied 1-1. The ball was just short of the wall, and his parents were as disappointed as anyone.
Bregman went 0-for-4, but he, played good defense at third base, including this excellent throw to first on a ground ball.

Now that he’s in the majors, he’ll have plenty more opportunities to put his dad, and everyone else, in awe.
