While serving as an assistant coach at Miami, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron coached one of the biggest actors in the world today. And not only that, but Orgeron gave him career advice — which he ended up taking.
Orgeron served as defensive line coach for the Hurricanes from 1988-92, which means he coached Dwayne Johnson, better known as “The Rock.”
While visiting ESPN on Wednesday and going on several shows, Orgeron told an interesting story about a conversation he had with Johnson when the Tigers head coach went on “Mike & Mike.”
“I remember one day he had a tough practice and he came off the field, and I said, ‘You ought to go be a wrestler like your uncle,'” Orgeron said of Johnson. “He took my advice.”

A lot has happened since Orgeron and Johnson’s conversation on the Miami practice field. Orgeron has coached at seven more schools since then, including the Tigers, who he took over as head coach during the 2016 season. Johnson went on to become a professional wrestler, later rising to stardom as an actor.
