Colby Delahoussaye was fortunate there was a fire.
His friends weren’t.
The LSU kicker survived a July car crash that claimed the lives of the other two athletes in the car, Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler. The trio was driving in rural Wisconsin from a kicking camp outside of Milwaukee to a wedding reception.
The news rocked the Big Ten, but it also has hit the LSU family hard, as Delahoussaye has played on in the memory of his friends.
A special as part of “The Journey” series will air at 9 p.m. ET tonight on Big Ten Network about Foltz.
"Mike, there's a curve."

“There was a curve coming up,” Delahoussaye recalled in the clip. “I said Mike there’s a curve. And that’s when it gets kind of spotty. The next thing I remember, we lost control going into the woods, then I don’t remember anything until I wake up because I could feel a burning sensation in my leg. I could feel my leg being burnt, and I’m pretty sure that’s what saved my life.”
Delahoussaye has been solid for the Tigers this season, going 5 of 7 on field goals and converting 25 of 27 extra points.
