BATON ROUGE, La. — Derrius Guice made his third start in place of an injured Leonard Fournette on Saturday.
No. 5 already overtook Fournette as LSU’s leading rusher and decided to pad that lead early into the second half.
Guice ripped off a 61-yard touchdown run past a host of Southern Miss defenders to give the Tigers an early 17-10 lead. It was the longest play of the game for either squad and pushed Guice’s rushing total to 103 yards on the evening.
