If you thought former LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s one-handed catch abilities were impressive on the football field, the New York Giants star has news for you– he can do it with a soccer ball as well.
Beckham teamed up with Erik Lamela, a midfielder for the Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League, to put together a cross-sport video that both football and soccer fans can enjoy.
With Lamela’s powerful leg playing the role of Giants QB Eli Manning’s right arm in this demonstration, Beckham makes multiple one-handed grabs on full-sized soccer balls booted 45 yards on a drop kick:
One-handed grabs have become one of the defining characteristics of Beckham’s game as he enters his third season with the Giants. His touchdown catch against Dallas in November of 2014 took him from “very good NFL rookie” to “NFL household name” almost instantly.
His numbers through two NFL seasons are staggering. Beckham has 2,755 yards receiving and 25 touchdowns on 187 catches through his first 27 NFL contests.
Beckham caught 143 passes for 2,340 yards and 12 touchdowns during a three-year stint at LSU from 2011-13.
