Will Wade is one of the top young coaches in college basketball, so it took some major money for LSU to hire him away from VCU.
Per The Advocate, the Tigers are paying their new coach $15 million over six years.
One interesting part of the contract is that there is no buyout if he were to take another job before the end of the contract. He would owe the university any money left on the deal.
Wade, 34, has risen up the coaching ranks quickly, earning his first head coaching position in 2013 at Chattanooga. After Shaka Smart left VCU for Texas, Wade was quickly hired to take over the Rams, where he was an assistant from 2009 to 2013.
He led VCU to two NCAA Tournament appearances during his two seasons as coach at the Richmond, Va., school.
