If Mississippi State fans believe in good karma, they will be happy to hear that 3-star recruit defensive end Drelan Porter has committed to play for the Bulldogs a day before they take on Auburn, according to Courtney Cronin of the Clarion-Ledger.
Porter is a Mississippi native and attended South Panola in Batesville, Miss. Throughout the recruiting process, he was also considering Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Memphis, but he felt most comfortable at Mississippi State.
His former high school coach raved about his abilities to play defense on the outside.
“He’s an unbelievable pass rusher with a great first step. I could see him on that level being an outside linebacker who drops into pass coverage or pressures off the edge,” South Panola coach Lance Pogue said to the Clarion-Ledger. “He may even grow into a true first-step pass rusher. The sky’s the limit for him.”
