With Mississippi State moving past Peter Sirmon as its defensive coordinator, one Bulldogs commit is reconsidering his options.
As reported by Rivals’ Woody Wommack, 3-star linebacker/defensive back Kaleb Oliver is re-opening his commitment after committing to the Bulldogs last June. Earlier Wednesday, Mississippi State announced that it had hired Todd Grantham as its defensive coordinator.
“The news really took me by surprise,” Oliver told Wommack. “Coach Sirmon has been my recruiter and one of the main reasons I committed originally. I still love the fans and I’m still committed but with him gone I’m going to re-open my recruitment and hear what other coaches have to say.”
247Sports’ composite rankings rates Oliver, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect from Murfreesboro, Tenn., as the No. 34 outside linebacker for the Class of 2017. He also has received offers from Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Purdue, Middle Tennessee, Memphis, Louisville and Cincinnati.
