Few players have shamed recruiting rankings as much as Benardrick McKinney during his time at Mississippi State.
Now in his second season as a staple in the Houston Texans’ vaunted front seven, McKinney arrived in Starkville as a 2-star quarterback prospect. But McKinney transitioned to the other side of the ball and spent three years starting at inside linebacker for the Bulldogs, earning All-American honors and prompting the Texans to spend a second-round pick on him in the 2015 NFL draft.
He’s since started 16 of his first 19 NFL games. And this week, the Bulldogs announced that he would be the latest subject of the program’s “From State To Sundays” billboard series. With 12 former Bulldogs on active NFL rosters, Mississippi State picks one to feature on billboards outside their respective NFL stadiums. Last week, they honored a pair of Bulldogs-turned-Raiders, Denico Autry and Gabe Jackson, outside of the Oakland Coliseum.
Check out the billboard in the tweet below. You can see one in person at one of the five locations it’ll be in Houston when the Texas host the Indianapolis Colts for Sunday Night Football (I-10 West bound, Highway 59 South bound, Highway 6 East bound, Highway 146 North bound, East Belt at Pasadena Blvd).
