Mississippi State and Southern Miss have agreed to play each other in a three-game series that will begin in 2019.
The two programs will face off in Starkville in 2019 and 2023 before heading to Hattiesburg in 2024. The first game is a “guarantee game” for the Golden Eagles. A home-and-home series will then begin with the 2023 matchup.
“We are pleased to announce this series, which is good for the football fans in the state of Mississippi,” Southern Miss Athletic Director Jon Gilbert said in a press release.
The two programs have faced of 29 times before with the results being surprisingly even — The Bulldogs are 14-14-1 against their much smaller in-state opponent.
Mississippi State has won the last four meetings with the Golden Eagles, last losing to Souther Miss in 1988.
