You don’t see many trades in college football, but this appears to be one. On the same day that Mississippi State announced that it was hiring Louisville DC Todd Grantham as its new defensive coordinator, and thus moving on from Peter Sirmon after just one season, some news emerged on Sirmon himself.
According to a report from ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Sirmon is lined to to replace the man that replaced him.
Sirmon is expected to be named the new defensive coordinator at Louisville, filling the spot on Bobby Petrino’s staff that was left vacant earlier in the day by the departure of Grantham.

Sirmon, who coached at USC, Washington and Tennessee prior to his stop over in Starkville, likely will want to forget his one season at Mississippi State. Under his direction, the Bulldogs ranked 13th in the SEC in points allowed and 12th in total defense.
