Mississippi State nearly pulled off an upset win against Alabama over the weekend, but the Bulldogs fell just short. After the loss, they sit at No. 16 in the updated College Football Playoff rankings, which were released Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs fell to the undefeated Crimson Tide, 31-24, but had the game tied late in the fourth quarter. Mississippi State’s three losses this season have come against the top three teams in the SEC — Alabama, Auburn and Georgia.
This week, the Bulldogs travel to Arkansas. Then, they conclude the regular season with a home matchup against Ole Miss on Thanksgiving.
Mississippi State’s loss to Alabama snapped its four-game winning streak, which featured victories over BYU, Kentucky, Texas A&M and UMass.
For comparison, the Bulldogs are ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll and No. 19 in the Coaches Poll.
