Like any other athlete, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has to get his mind right before a competition.
Music is one way to that, and he has a go-to song to get him ready on Sundays. However, his choice is a bit surprising.
“My favorite song ever is Drops of Jupiter by Train,” the former Mississippi State star Prescott said to Sports Illustrated’s Eden Laase. “It’s one of the songs I listen to before games. It’s chill, but it’s also upbeat at the same time.”
There is nothing wrong with that being his favorite song, but it wouldn’t be most people’s first guess on a star football player’s pregame music. “Tell me! Did you fall for a shooting star?/ One without a permanent scar?” doesn’t seem like a chorus that would get someone ready to play a football game.
Maybe high energy and fast paced isn’t the music that Prescott needs to prepare to perform. He’s the quarterback, so he has to play the game as much with his mind as he does with his body.
Drops of Jupiter appears to have worked for him so far. In one season he has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the NFL and brought the Cowboys back to the top NFL.
The Cowboys hope that his shooting star doesn’t fall any time soon.
