A week after being upset by Southern Alabama, Mississippi State’s quarterback battle appears to live on. The depth chart released by the school has Damian Williams or Nick Fitzgerald listed as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs’ game against South Carolina.
Williams took his opportunity in the game against South Alabama and ran with it. He was inserted into the game after Fitzgerald went 0-for-3 in the first two possessions. Williams led scoring drives in the first half that allowed the Bulldogs to take a 17-0 lead. He stayed in for the rest of the game and completed 20 of 28 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball 12 times for 93 yards.
