Dan Mullen landed a huge catch on Signing Day, as Jeffery Simmons has officially signed with Mississippi State.
Simmons is ranked as the third-best at his position and the No. 19 prospect overall in the nation. The 6-foot-3, 277-pound strongside defensive end, who played his high school football at Noxubee County High School (Macon, Miss.), is another local recruit for the Bulldogs.
The five-star senior picked Mississippi State over offers from Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU and more, and his commitment drastically improves what has been a somewhat disappointing signing day for the Bulldogs.
Simmons, Mississippi’s top-ranked prospect, took an unofficial visit to Starkville in mid-November when the Bulldogs hosted Alabama and fell 31-6. His official visit came on Jan. 15.
