Former Mississippi State cornerback Darius Slay agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Detroit Lions worth a reported $50.2 million.
Slay, selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, has played in 45 career games for the Lions, including 36 starts.
“Darius earned this extension, and we are happy to reward him accordingly,” Lions GM Bob Quinn said in a statement. “We also are pleased to have finalized this now so the team and Darius can focus on the start of training camp and preparation for the upcoming season.”
Slay’s deal takes him through the 2020 season. He has amassed 149 total tackles, four interceptions and 35 pass defenses in his first three years in the NFL.
