Johnthan Banks and Darius Slay were quite a tandem at Mississippi State.
And now the Detroit Lions are hoping the duo can replicate what they did down in Starkville. Banks was traded by the Buccaneers to Detroit for a conditional seventh round pick in 2018.
Banks will now team up with Slay, who has developed into one of the best young cornerbacks in the NFL. Banks was drafted in the second round of the 2013 draft with the 43rd pick, while Slay was taken with the 36th pick.
Banks was inactive for the Buccaneers in the last two games. In his NFL career, he has seven career interceptions. Banks had a school record 16 interceptions at Mississippi State, while Slay had six. Slay has five interceptions in the NFL.
Mississippi State hosts Texas A&M on Saturday in Starkville. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET on the SEC Network.
