Pernell McPhee wants his game Monday to match the Halloween spirit.
The former Mississippi State defensive end, now a linebacker with the Chicago Bears, had an interesting answer for Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune when describing his hopes for the Bears’ contest against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field.
“I hope it’ll be bloody,” McPhee told the newspaper Friday.
Campbell noted McPhee said that comment with “a devious smile,” so it’s fair to assume the player was being playful. Still, those words are sure to grab your attention and create a little interest for the Halloween showdown.
McPhee played in his first game of the season last week following knee surgery that required nine months of recovery.
Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round in 2011, McPhee has 145 tackles with 23 sacks in his career. He’s in his second season with Chicago after spending four years with the Ravens.
