Mississippi State pulled off a big upset this past weekend, taking down fourth-ranked Texas A&M. A big reason for the Bulldogs most notable victory of the season was the play of senior wide receiver Fred Ross. Ross connected with quarterback Nick Fitzgerald time and again, finishing the game with 6 catches for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a result of Ross’ great play, the Reese’s Senior Bowl has named him their offensive senior of the week:

Ross has followed up his 1000-yard 2015 with another standout campaign this fall. Through nine games, Ross has tallied 54 catches for 641 yards and 9 touchdowns. One more trip to the end zone and he’ll have matched his career total coming into this season.
Though the Bulldogs’ 4-5 record is not as good as they would have hoped, beating a top-five team is a significant accomplishment, and one that Mississippi State fans hope will propel the team to a bowl game. The team’s final three games will make the march to six wins tough, however, as they host Arkansas between trips to Alabama and Ole Miss.
