Former Mississippi State football player Curtis Sirmones Jr. was shot and killed during an argument Tuesday night in Lawrence County, Tennessee, according to a Lawrence County press release.
A suspect, 30-year-old Yancey Williams, has been arrested on a charge of second-degree murder. Lawrence County released more details on Sirmones’ death Wednesday afternoon.
The statement says that deputies with the Lawrence County Sherriff’s Department were responding to a reported shooting when they encountered Williams. Williams told the deputies that he had shot Sirmones.
Sirmones was found by the porch of a nearby house having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Williams is being held at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. Read the statement below:
