Ben Howland has been around basketball for quite some times and made plenty of connections.
The second-year Mississippi State coach recently utilized one of those.
Longtime NBA coach George Karl met and spoke with the Bulldogs team recently, according to multiple reports.
Howland said George Karl came and spent several days with the team.

Karl has been an NBA coach for 27 years, coaching to a 1,175-824 record. He earned his first head coaching gig in 1984 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and also had stints in Golden State, Milwaukee, Denver and most recently with the Sacramento Kings. He was named the 2013 NBA Coach of the Year 57-25 record.
The longtime coach was fired by the Kings at the end of the 2016 season after leading Sacramento to a 44-68 combined record.
Howland, in his second season following a 10-year stint at UCLA, led the Bulldogs to a 14-17 (7-11 SEC) record last season.
