Hankerson, a South Bend, Ind., native, is originally from Starkville, Miss. He moved away after his sophomore season at Starkville High School, according to Paul Jones of 247Sports.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder also held offers from Indiana, Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio). He officially visited Mississippi State this weekend and committed before he left town. Hankerson is the 20th-ranked prospect in the state of Indiana.
The Bulldogs now have 16 commitments for the Class of 2016.
