Mississippi State football got a little bit better on Saturday night, as the Bulldogs earned the commitment of Spanish Fort, Ala., cornerback DJ James.
James announced the decision on Twitter.

“First off, I would like to thank God for putting me in this position to have this opportunity,” James wrote. “I also want to thank my family and coaches for pushing me to become the person and player that I am today.”
James joins State’s 2019 class, which is now ranked No. 15 in the country, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He’s one of four commits so far, including two 4-star prospects and a JUCO offensive lineman.
According to the 247Sports composite, James is a 3-star prospect and the No. 45 overall cornerback in the class of 2019. He’s listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds — close to ideal measurements for an SEC cornerback.
