Mississippi State fans, you must wait awhile longer to learn your starting quarterback.
On Monday, Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen said he was not prepared to name a top choice behind center. As reported by Paul Jones of BullDawgs247, “a definite No. 1 starter” was not ready to be determined. According to Bob Carskadon of HailState.com, the competition was down to junior Damian Williams and sophomore Nick Fitzgerald with redshirt freshman Nick Tiano also likely getting some playing time.
Mullen says the QB competition is down to Nick Fitzgerald/Damian Williams, but says Nick Tiano "will get reps," too.

Here’s more from Jones’ story:
“I was hoping to be ready and I really see Nick Williams playing quarterback for us,” said Mullen with a laugh. “But really, I am waiting for the clarity but we will play more than one quarterback and probably play more than one in the first quarter. I’m not trying to be deceptive and I was wanting complete clarity and having a defined No. 1. But I don’t think there is one yet so I plan on us playing more than one (quarterback) in the first quarter.”
It will be a tall task for whoever wins the job to take over for Dak Prescott. It’s understandable that Mullen would want to see the competition play out a bit more. Still, an answer should come soon.
Stay patient a little while longer, Bulldogs faithful.
