Dan Mullen is proud of Dak Prescott.
Speaking on the Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network on Monday, the Mississippi State coach reflected on Prescott’s fast rise with the Dallas Cowboys and what it meant for Mullen and others within the Bulldogs’ program to see so much early professional success for the quarterback.
Mullen revealed advice he has given Prescott about staying focused. The coach said he has reminded the quarterback that it’s important to keep proving yourself day after day.
Here’s Mullen’s complete thought on Prescott from the show:
“He believed in the program,” Mullen said. “He gave so much to this program. From how he came in to how he left, he just grew so much as a player and as a man. He has meant so much to the school and the community here that everybody takes so much pride in what he does. I couldn’t be happier or more proud of him and how he handles himself. He knows he always has our support. We always try to keep him in check of those things. So we talk to him, just making sure that he knows it’s about showing up today, how hard he can work today, how good you can be today and not what you’ve done in the past. And I think he took that with him from this program, and he continues to do it on a weekly basis now with the Dallas Cowboys.”
This is a great message from Mullen, and it serves as an important lesson for all of us that we’re never done proving ourselves.
Prescott has proven plenty with Dallas this season, throwing for 2,020 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. He had 247 yards passing with three touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 35-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
