National Signing Day for 2017 was more than three months ago, but the Mississippi State Bulldogs have picked up another member for its signing class: tight end Powers Warren out of Minnetonka, Minn.
Per Paul Jones of 247Sports, Warren said that the Bulldogs offered a scholarship last night and that he will enroll in July.
“Mississippi State gave me a full scholarship offer last night and it was Coach (D.J.) Looney that offered me,” Warren said. “I am going to visit them on June 10th and then report there for summer school on July 4th. Coach Looney has been talking to me over the past week and a half. He asked me if Mississippi State would be an option if they offered. I told him they would be. It’s SEC football and Mississippi State is a great program. I am just excited to start there and look forward to my future there.”
While Warren had shown interest in teams such as Notre Dame, Michigan, and Minnesota, among others, his only offer was from Bemidji State, a Division II school in his home state of Minnesota.
Warren will be the only tight end in the Bulldogs 2017 class, a group that was ranked as No. 24 in the nation and No. 9 in the SEC by 247Sports.
