Sirmon was formerly the associate head coach, recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach with Southern California. He will also serve as the linebackers coach in Starkville, Miss. Buckley played 14 seasons in the NFL before serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Louisville. Turner has coached the Bulldogs defensive line for six years.
“We are excited about the dynamic additions to our staff and are grateful for what David has helped us accomplish,” Mullen said in a press release. “They are tremendous recruiters, teachers and leaders who will continue to raise the level of expectations of our program. They will develop our players both on and off the field, preparing them for life and do it in a way our Bulldog fans can be proud of.”
Sirmon will replace former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, who left Starkville to take the same position with Mark Richt’s staff at Miami. The Bulldogs ranked 36th in the nation in 2015 with an average of 23.2 points allowed per game and ranked 56th in total defense with an average of 391.2 yards allowed.
