Mississippi State fans look to claim cowbell record
While some records seem made to be broken, Mississippi State fans may feel one in particular is tailored just for them.
The MSU faithful will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people simultaneously ringing cowbells during the school’s annual Cowbell Yell at 9 p.m. on Thursday. The event at Davis Wade Stadium, which is open to the public, will serve as a pep rally before the Bulldogs host their SEC opener against No. 14 LSU on Saturday.

In a video announcement last month, Mississippi State set a goal for 15,000 fans to pile into the stadium, a total which would far surpass the paltry record-breaking attempts made by similar cowbell enthusiasts. Though there is an unverified record of 1,000 bell-ringers at a race in Michigan this year, the official Guinness World Record has been held by a group of 640 people from Switzerland since 2009.
Last year, more than 10,000 Bulldogs fans reportedly attended Cowbell Yell.
