Mississippi State staved off some elite programs to secure one of the top in-state prospects in the Class of 2018.
RB Fabian Franklin, rated as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state, announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Wednesday. He chose Mississippi State over Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan and TCU.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Franklin was recruited by tight ends coach D.J. Looney. According to the 247Sports composite ranking, Franklin is the 18th-best running back prospect for 2018.
Franklin is the Bulldogs’ 19th commitment in the class and 10th from within the state. He joins La’damian Webb, an Alabama product, as the two running backs in the crop so far.
