It’s been quite the weekend for Mississippi State recruiting, and we haven’t even hit noon on Saturday yet.
Earlier Saturday morning, the Bulldogs reeled in a commitment from 2018 defensive tackle Devon Robinson. But it looks like Dan Mullen and his staff were just getting started. Just a few hours later, Mississippi State earned another commitment, this time from 2019 quarterback Jalon Jones:

Jones is the second commit in the 2019 class for Mississippi State, after JUCO defensive end Drelan Porter. Of course, any time a quarterback commits — especially this early in the process — it’s is a huge deal. Mullen is certainly hoping that having their signal caller already on board will provide a boost to the rest of the class.
According to 247Sports, Jones is a three-star, dual threat prospect. He stands 6’3, 180, and hails from Baltimore, where he plays for St. Frances Academy. He is choosing the Bulldogs over a handful of big-time offers, including Alabama, UCLA, and Virginia Tech.
