Mississippi State is going on the road this week to play UMass.
It’s usually the other way around when am SEC team plays such an opponent, but the opportunity to compete in the New England Patriots’ Gillette Stadium was enough to convince the Bulldogs to travel North.
“I was involved in the scheduling of this game,” Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said. “I think it was one of those things we looked at as an opportunity to schedule some games playing in a location of where the stadium is. An opportunity for the guys to go play in Gillette Stadium in an NFL venue. I think that had a lot to do with the scheduling of this game.”
The Bulldogs enter Saturday’s contest off a 23-20 loss to LSU, and with a 1-2 record. They will look to get back to the .500 mark after also dropping their season opener against South Carolina.
“We have to come back from last week’s loss,” Mullen said. “Are guys are working hard, responded well out there on the field. Another tough road challenge having to go to the Northeast.
