Dan Mullen made waves by running the Boston Marathon earlier this week, and now the Mississippi State coach and his staff have made a recruiting splash in the Sunshine State.
Four-star inside linebacker Tyler Dunning announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Wednesday evening, giving the program its 11th pledge for the Class of 2017.
“Just would like to let everyone know that I’m committed to Mississippi State!! ??‼️ #HailState,” he tweeted.
Dunning, who stars at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderlade, Fla.), chose Mississippi State over nearby Miami after picking up an offer from the Bulldogs late last month.
Dunning, who decommitted from Miami exactly two months ago, had previously announced a top five list that comprised of Arkansas, Syracuse, LSU, Kentucky and Tennessee. Alabama had also been heavily pursuing the 6-foot, 239-pound defender.
Dunning is rated the nation’s 10th-best prospect at his position for 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite. He recorded 46 tackles, including 11.5 for a loss and one sack, and recovered four fumbles as a high school junior.
Mullen may still be winded from his 26.2-mile run, but we’re sure he still had enough energy for a smile after hearing this news.
