Welcome to More Cowbell, SEC Country’s daily podcast about Mississippi State sports with host Brandon Walker.
When Joe Moorhead was hired as Mississippi State’s football coach in late 2017, MSU fans had one question: Can he recruit? Now, less than four months into the job, Moorhead and his coaching staff seem to be answering that question with a resounding “Yes.” One week after landing out-of-state 4-star prospects on consecutive days, MSU was back at it Wednesday night, this time landing a verbal pledge from 4-star defensive end Ani Izuchukwu. The Nashville product chose MSU over Alabama and Ohio State, proving that Moorhead and his staff remain light years ahead of MSU’s former coaching staff on the recruiting trail.
The Bulldogs also received good news on the basketball court Wednesday, as freshman point guard Nick Weatherspoon announced his intention to return to MSU. The return of Weatherspoon helps set the table for big things at MSU next season.
