It’s been a busy first few days on the job for Mississippi State interim Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee.
His latest move came on Thursday when the school announced it was relieving soccer coach Aaron Gordon of his duties, reassigning him within the athletic department.
Gordon went 17-52-3 in four seasons, including 4-38-2 in SEC play. The Bulldogs will immediately begin a national search for a new coach.
“We appreciate everything that Aaron has done and thank him for his commitment to Mississippi State soccer the past four years,” Wetherbee said in a release.
Wetherbee took over the AD role after Scott Stricklin left for Florida. He has officially been on the job for three days.
That’s been enough time for another move, however. On Wednesday, Wetherbee set up a future home-and-home football series with Minnesota, with games taking place in 2026 and 2027.
Wetherbee has worked for athletic departments at four schools during his 17 years in the business.
