Mississippi State’s 2018 recruiting class was already small coming into Wednesday, at just three players. But now that collection of future Bulldogs has been cut by a third, as JUCO DT Emmit Gooden took to Twitter to announce his decommitment from Dan Mullen’s program:
I will like to announce that I have OFFICIALLY opened my recruiting process back up.

After failing to qualify last year out of high school, Mississippi signed-and-placed the then-four star Gooden at Independence CC in Kansas, one of the top junior college programs in the country.
247Sports currently lists Gooden as a three-star, and the third-best 2018 JUCO prospect in the country. In addition to Mississippi State, Gooden held offers from several other SEC programs coming out of high school, though he’s only visited one — Missouri — since failing to qualify. Regardless, as a 2018 prospect, there is a lot of time before Gooden will arrive on any college campus, and he could very well see his recruitment ramp back up now that he’s back on the market.
