Dan Mullen and the Mississippi State football program have to be ecstatic tonight after adding to their 2018 class. Not only are they getting quite the player — they’re also earning a commitment from what immediately becomes one of the best names in the SEC: Johnquarise Patterson:

From Pearl, Miss., where he plays for Pearl High School, Patterson is considered a two-star prospect, according to 247Sports. The senior-to-be stands 6-foot-1 and currently weighs 170 pounds. Though his offer list isn’t particularly impressive — Mississippi State is his only known division one offer at this time — Dan Mullen has had plenty of success turning unheralded recruits into very good college players. He and the rest of his staff certainly hope that that will be the case with their latest commit.
